Hi Rod,
I have been using AI Booster successfully for the past 18 months. I run a very stable system overclocked by 20% using it. There are also many forum posts of people using it successfully, but recommend tweaking the BIOS for;
a). getting more than a 20% overclock and/or;
b). a general better understanding of what overclocking is about.
The issues appear to mainly be with AMD processors, but I stand to be corrected.
Thanks,
Steve.

I'd agree with Rod about going carefully and using the Bios. It really wasn't difficult using the Bios. I didn't attempt to overclock the RAM over its stock speed of 1067 MHz or lower the timings. The Windows tool provided by Gigabyte I found more confusing than the Bios and worse than that, misleading, especially about the temperatures shown, which weren't the proper core temps at all, but a much lower "CPU" one. Going by that I might have cooked the CPU. Use Coretemp. I used Prime95 to stresstest. Once I'd worked out that for a basic moderate overclock, which was all that I wanted, I just needed to set the multiplier to its highest, the FSB bus speed in increments to get to my target speed of 3400MHz (8.5 multiplier times 400 FSB) the FSB:DRAM ratio to 3:4 to give stock RAM speed of 2 x 400 x 4:3 = 1067, and to adjust the vcore voltage (in my case downwards as it was already at an unnecessary high setting) to bring down the core temps to well within Intels specs. Max core temps at prolonged 100% loading peak at 62, median value 60 degs. "Speedfan" graphs them nicely.

Mine runs at 3 very happily. If cooling truly isn't an issue I think I have heard of stable liquid cooled 6600's at 3.7.
